If you're just joining us at the XBL, welcome! This page is to help you get started. Please read through this entire page to familiarize yourself with the league, how it works, and how to join. We are a welcoming community. Once you have read through everything here, feel free to ask in our Discord if you have any additional questions. For using the website on mobile, it is recommended that you set your mobile browser to the "desktop version" of the website.
Here's what you need to do to get started as a player in the XBL. Clicking on blue text will take you to other pages that will provide important information:
Read the XBL Rulebook.
You don't need to memorize it right now, but you should get an understanding of how the League operates.
Create a Roster.
This link will take you to our Roster Help page where you can find the link to the roster builder as well as a roster explainer video if you need additional help. The Roster Creation section of the Rulebook (linked above in point 1) gives a detailed overview of how the roster builder works and the rules that govern it. Once you have used these resources, if you still have questions, feel free to ask them in the #roster-help channel of the Discord.
Once you have a completed legal roster, submit your roster to the #offseason-rosters Discord channel.
To submit your roster, all you have to do you post the web link for your roster. In your post, also include the platform that you play Super Mega Baseball on (PC, Xbox, PS, etc.) and your name on that platform.
Make sure to change your share settings on your roster to be viewable before submitting it. To do this, click "Share" on the top right corner of your document, then click "Restricted" then "Anyone with the link."
Although the Roster Builder is easiest to use on a PC, it is usable on mobile. However, it is recommended that you download the Google Sheets app to do so.
Once a League Office member has reviewed your roster, they will assign you to a Scrimmage Group.
Read more about scrimmage groups below.
Scrimmage 15 times and post your results in #scrimmage-results.
Try various egos against various opponents to make sure League Office can get a good idea of your level, so they can place you into the proper league where you will be most competitive.
You may make roster edits as much as you like without submitting again. The only time you are locked into a roster build is when you submit your roster to play in a season.
Congratulations, your are now eligible to play in the upcoming season of the XBL! Have fun and enjoy the competition!
After you submit your roster, you will be given a letter that represents your scrimmage group (A through F). Please remember this letter, as it is a permanent assignment. But if you forget it, you can find it on the Scrimmage Lobbies page.
Because we have nearly 100 people who use our scrimmage lobbies, and lobbies are limited to 32 players, this is the system we use to ensure everyone can play against everyone.
When you match with a player for a scrimmage in #scrimmage-requests, exchange your letters with each other. Your combined letters are the lobby that you can play each other in.
Because lobby codes expire after 24 hours, we do not keep a set of codes that we can give you. You will need to collect the lobby codes from your opponents, and eventually you will get all of them that you need. Once your have 5 lobbies corresponding to your letter, you will be able to play anyone.
You can click the reaction to the top post in #welcome by YTdaDEVIL to automatically receive the @scrimmers role. This will notify you when somebody is looking for a scrimmage. You can remove yourself from this role by removing your reaction from that post at any time.
After the conclusion of a scrimmage, please log your results in the #scrimmage-results channel. These results help League Office understand your skill level so they can place you into the league where you will be the most competitive.
Because these results are collected using an automated system, results posts need to follow a certain format. Please see the format below.
There are three leagues, how do I know which one I will be in?
We host three leagues: XBL, AAA, and AA. Your first 15 scrimmages will help League Office decide which league you should start in. Players can be promoted from one league to the next, but new players are not automatically placed in AA.
How long does a season last?
Regular seasons last about 7 weeks, consisting of between 26 and 40 games, depending on league size. Then playoffs take place, which take another approximately 4 to 5 weeks.
What determines who I will play each week?
You schedule your opponents yourself. There is no set schedule you must play. However, there is a weekly minimum of games played to help everyone keep pace. If you are ever struggling to keep pace or have a planned absence, just let League Office know.
What is the XBL Cup?
The XBL Cup is a tournament played every offseason where players from all three leagues play each other on varying egos to create a leveled skill field.
The XBL website looks terrible on my phone.
The XBL website does indeed look terrible on mobile. However, if you set your mobile browser to "desktop version," you will have a much better experience!
